The Be Good Tanyas began in the spring of 1999 as a group of ramblin' gals who came together to share songs and stories collected and created from their experiences of life on the road. With a variety of musical backgrounds, their influences all lay in the realm of roots music - old-tyme jazz, blues, gospel, folk, and country. Together they began to write and arrange original songs, and collaborate on loving and unique renditions of their favorite traditionals. What surfaced was, simply, uncommonly beautiful music. Their sound is original and insightful, yet evocative of a bygone era. With stunning vocals and seamless harmonies, combined with gorgeous acoustic instrumentation, the texture of the music remains warm, honest, and capitivating.
